Welcome to EPZ Simon.

Thanks for loading all the EXIF data, - its very useful.

Looks like the flash fired as a fill flash, and I think it was perhaps a little too much light as it washed out some of the white detail. Otherwise a good shot.

Its possible to recover some of this using the highlight tool in CS3, - which Ive done in the mod, - also sharpened a little and cropped to get the gull out of the centre.

1/60 was a very slow shutter speed using a 200mm focal length, so you obviously have a very steady hand, a tripod, or rested the camera on a steady surface.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Willie

Thanks Willie for this tip/critique. I certainly haven't got a steady hand but I did manage to take this free standing. Your input is a great boost to me and appreciated very much.

I take on board what you say about the flash and certainly agree some detail is lost. When I tried to edit this in CaptureNX i felt the purity of the white feathers made it a more pleasing image - personal taste I guess. (don't have adobe software yet - maybe i can win a copy - lol)

Kindest Regards
Simon.
