Field Scabious - Species of scabious were used to treat Scabies, and may other afflictions of the skin including sores caused by the Bubonic Plague. The word scabies comes from the Latin word for "scratch" (scabere). Another name for this plant is Gypsy Rose.

Thanks for all the C&Cs on 'Cloudbusting'.

Best wishes,
Philip

A favourite of insects as well. Nicely framed with the stalk in the corner, Philip.

A lovely close shot of the scabious, Philip, and interesting information, and you know how I love that sort of thing.
