That moment when someone turns round and catches you taking a sneaky photo of them without asking................my heart was in my mouth when, on my first day in India, I spotted this Holy Man sitting on the steps outside the Red Fort in New Delhi and took a quick shot of him from a side view.

He turned round and caught me red-handed. My face must have looked a picture as his face broke into a wide grin. He indicated that he was happy to pose for more photos and this is my favorite.

All constructive critique is welcome.

Thank for looking

Elaine Grin

Good capture. He looks a happy chappy. Did you have to tip him for the photo?
All looks good, colour, highlights etc.
I might crop down to his depending on format if printing
Also run the dodge tool set to shadows lightly over his eyes.
Did you resharpen after resizing for Internet? Maybe needs a touch.
Regards
Ian

Super portrait. I'd just crop the top, though.

The eyes and face are not sharp, otherwise very nice. Its not overall sharpening, its that the camera focused on the beard, which is sharpe, A crop to A4 does raise the eyes to a better composition.

The eyes and face can be sharpened, and this works nicely, as you can see in the mod. I popped a tiny catchlight into the other eye also.

You got a lot braver after this one!

Regards

Willie

Hi Ian,

Yes he was very happy to be photographed..............a few people inn our group took shots so possible our guide gave him some rupees out of our kitty.

I didn't resharpen - looking at it now it does need it a bit.

Thanks for your advice.

Cheers

Hi Andrew,

I think you're right about cropping the top a little bit.

Hi Willie,

Lol, yes I gained more confidence approaching people throughout the trip.

Thanks for the mod - that catchlight does make a difference. Like the crop and the sharpening.

Cheers
