Taken at sunset on a holiday to Outer Hebrides last week. Had noticed this location during the day and came back to capture the sunset. Am fairly new to landscape photography so comments welcome.

compositionally I think you've naild this one, it's a simple scene and placing teh horiaon on the top 1/3, wiuth the house off centre, was just what you needed.
doesn't look burned out anywhere, so you have latitude to edit the shot - was it a RAW file?
all i'd suggest is a little tweaking in post-processing - level up the water a bit - you can have a go at this by adding a guide line in photoshop and roatating accordingly
Nexyt have a go with curves to add contrast, especially in the watery refelction. If there's too much light in the reflecgtion, it looses its impact in a way
one thing worth buying is a polariser as this will allow you to change how the light reflects on the water enhance the colours.

I agree that the composition is good, a great viewpoint. I like the exposure and the colour, the slight detail in the semi-silhouette of the house adds much.
A very nice image, Tony, with some foreground grasses and nicely reflected sunset. I have done a mod removing the poles and wires, but whilst I had the picture in the editing programme, I did as suggested above, straightened it a bit and used curves to add some contrast. Hope it's ok.
Pamela.
Hi a great capture, and here's a few points I think might improve it further:
1) Rotate image slightly anti-clockwise.
2) The intensity of the water could be enhanced slightly. What I did in the mod 2 was to use 2 layers. The layer below had a slight darkened curve, I then placed the original on top, and rubbed through selectively to reveal a more vibrant reflection.
3) Shadow/Highlights adjustment:
Shadows: Amount 5%, Tonal width 24%, Radius 139 px
Highlights: Amount 9%, Tonal width 68%, Radius 162px
Colour correction: +12
Midtone contrast: +5
4) Brightness/Contrast: Brightness -11, Contrast +6
5) I increased the saturation in the forground to bring a little more colour into the sky reflection and the reeds.
I hope that helps,
Nick
PS ignore my mod 1, uploaded incorrect one
