First ever try with grads at this weekend's Northscape session. Yep, I know the telescope is blown out (no recovery from the jpeg!) and that there's a bit of distortion but I've done virtually nothing to the shot prior to posting here.

I do like the pinky look to the image and the light on the pier decking. However, the previous 50 shots I'd taken were pretty much unusable thanks to some poor histogram control!

I've got a feeling I should know exactly what grads I used but suffice to say they were two of them (I think a 9 and a 3) and they were of the soft variety. And it was f18 for 1/15 at ISO 200 at around 7am'ish after the sun had risen. And there were sausages for breakfast.

Really need to practice with grads but I can now understand just how essential they are for landscapes.

Oh yes, the shot's from Whitby, as if you needed telling Wink

Thanks for looking, Howard

Thanks all.
I promise I will move to RAW once I get a PC that isn't steam driven and will open up an image in under 5 mins!

Very strong composition Howard. Lack of sleep wouldn't have helped the concentration Wink

I like colour and light - just as I remember it - it was worth fighting for the tripod space!
