Kununurra is a town in far northern Western Australia located at the eastern extremity of the Kimberley Region with a population of around 4000 inhabitants which makes it the largest town in Western Australia north of Broome (1000 km/ 600miles).

The town was established in the 1960s. Itís in the middle of nowhere (3214†km (1,997†miles) from Perth and 834†km (518†miles) from Darwin. Wyndham (see previous up-loads) is the closest town (100km/60†miles).

Mirima National Park in on the outskirts of Kununurra. There are some spectacular rock formations to be seen there.

The Miriuwung people who live in the region gave the name Mirima to the area. This area is especially significant to their culture.

It is also known as the "Hidden Valley National Park". It is open for day use
only: you are not allowed to camp there.

There were few people visiting in September so it is very quiet except for the sounds of birds and insects.

Sounds an idyllic place to rest and relax, Jean-Noel, with hardly any visitors, my idea of heaven Smile Carol
