My silly Sunday image, although I'm not sure all you arachnophobics will see it like this!!!....Hee hee Tongue What's more I've got a few more to post over the next few days of the same spider, so I'm fully expecting my votes to hit rock bottom by the end of the week! Tongue

Now the serious bit Smile It's just a Common Garden Spider, that was exceptionally compliant and let me capture several large image stacks of it at x2 magnification. In this instance 65 images were taken and then it was stacked using ZereneZP 64bit and then the image was cleaned up using PSP4. Took about 7-8 minutes to shoot the stack, and about 6 hours work manipulating the final image to get it eventually looking like this. Spider was returned to the wild unharmed when I finished with it and no cooling or any other methods were used to subdue the spider, I was just very lucky. More to follow over the next couple of days, but I think this one is my favourite, I particularly liked how this one came out because of the symmetry to the image. Anyhow here's hoping I haven't frightened you all too much, many thanks to Ann (Pluckyfilly) for yesterday's UA and to everyone else for your kind comments.

Awesome detail and exceptional eye contact in this frighteningly good extreme close up. I agree with Dean when he says you have way too much time on your hands, I'm sure that Chris Packham would have given you one of his infamous "geek" awards that he gives out on Springwatch and Autumnwatch had he seen this!WinkGrin I'm reluctant to give you an award as I know all the adulation and praise will go to your head and we shall never hear the last of it, but for sheer bloody minded perseverance and dedication to your craft you can have a TT award

Not entirely Kate, ZereneZP is able to deal with very very slight movement, hence the reason it took me 6 hours to clean the image up to this stage. Obviously if the subject was to decide to walk off, it would have been completely stuffed, but as I said in this case the spider was ever so compliant and stayed still pretty much all the time with just the odd tiny movement. I was very lucky. Smile
