Was intrigued by the steps leading up to it.
I wonder what used to be there.

Wonderful colour Barbara - no idea what the steps are for though.
Helen
There may be a tomb underneath, and the tree was planted on top if it in someone's memory? Whatever, it's a gorgeous tree, Barbs, such a shame it is hidden away in the woods, it should have pride of place in an open space
Carol
Fabulous colours Barbara, beautiful tree and those steps are fascinating, almost looks like more of the same tree are about to emerge from them ![]()

Acers always produce the best colours - this is fabulous!
Moira
Amazing red colour, and the steps look good at the base, whatever they're for.
Dave
Big splash of colour by the king of the trees IMO. well captured Barbara, well seen
John
The finery of the Autumnal coat at its very best.
Fine capture indeed
Graham
Looks like it's an Acer, Barbs trees which never "hide" their glory come Autumn! Not the sort of tree most folk plant without reason, so there's probably been something special those steps lead up to. Ideas could be endless on that one and no doubt will remain a mystery!
Ann
