I've been playing around with a new light this evening (thanks Glynn!) This is a shot of my lad. I asked him to look menacing...it's the closest he can get.

Slight adjustments in Lightroom, but this is more or less the light/exposure on camera.

Lighting works well. Looks like you achieved what you intended through lighting alone, without having to resort to heavy post processing. Would likely look even more menacing in B&W. Would be interesting to know the light set-up.

Teenagers can be menacing enough without being asked. A handsome lad with a good direct gaze.

This is good, but if I'm honest I think I prefer the one you have in your 'Blog' area. Smile

I prefer this one because of the lighting (or lack of) - it gives a sense of mystery. I also prefer the way the actual hood totally surrounds his head. (I hope you don't mind me linking to the other image - if you do, I really don't mind the link being removed!) Smile

Great moody portrait Pete; working well with the strong shadows and eye contact

Yep,the lighting works well...expensive set-up though Wink
He doesn't look the least bit menacing here Mr B. but I do like the shadows across his face.

Like the subtle drama of the lighting...speaking as a middle aged observer, he looks more gorgeous young man / vogue than threatening...!!
