This is a shot of the front entrance to a restaurant called the Jetty, i was trying for the silhouette effect here, but not sure if it works. Do you think the foreground could be a little more brighter and yet maintain the effect ?. V2 is the original if anyone wants to have a go.

Nice idea Prabh, this might have made a normal type of picture in colour look very nice; but to your silhouette. It has the makings of one here so I have uploaded a crop to show you my suggestion. I do think that to silhouette the part of the ship shown, would overedo the blackness associated with such genre of pictures which is why I have reduced the amount of the ship in my offering.

Agree with Frank a silhouette style B+W should have increased shadows to emphasis the dark contrasty areas against the highlights with much of the mid tones being moved towards the dark side (underexposed). I have loaded a slightly different crop to Frank which keeps your original portrait orientation but focussed in on the hook and the sea. Apart from these adjustments I really like the shot. Grin

I like the idea but would crop top and right to come in tighter on the silhouette. The image could be quite strong. Would not lighten foreground.
