Welcome back, good to see you.
You don't get much remoter than this. It has an end of the known world feel. We're running out of land, about to drop off the edge.

Haven't visited South Uist yet Dougie - it looks quite barren and windswept from your image.
Splendid solitude though on your morning walk.

There is little to relieve the barrenness of the land beside 'the lonely sea and the sky'. I sometimes imagine myself living somewhere similar; but than I'm an antisocial old b*****.
Welcome back, Dougie!

Bill

Can almost feel the cold Dougie. That is a very intimidating sky. Nice to see you back. Moira

I love these bleak, wide open spaces. This image makes me want to be there.

Good to see you posting again, Dougie.
What a contrast to your last upload where the clear, cold and bright April weather has been replaced by, well.....not quite so bright and breezy stuff. The sort of place your satnav mistakenly takes you to when you ask for the nearest petrol station!

I remember Howmore & South Uist in general from fishing trips 20-30 years ago. Must get back, this time with camera.
Lovely Uist image, very atmospheric. Weather & light changes constantly - I'm sure you enjoyed it....

Malcolm

Very desolate looking. Even the road in, once you're on it you have to keep going, there's no place to turn around. Wild and rugged country, but some like it for the peacefulness...........Sandy

Reminds me of the landscape as described in Lewis in the book "The Lewis Man", Dougie: obviously you had some rather mean weather during your trip but I hope you had some brighter spells too.
Very moody and atmospheric.
Ronnie.

The long, long road to the end of the world... typical landscape for the western islands, water on the left, water on the right, a single track road leading to one of two far away cottages. Maybe a hill in the distance, maybe not. Love it!
