This is a repost which has been cleaned up a little more (I was never happy with the bottom left corner) and lightened since I decided to enter it into this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

I found out yesterday that I was unsuccessful but I did reach the final, which is not bad out of over 32,000 entries!

I have included the original version I uploaded and the original image straight from camera (with my mum in the background - meaning lots of cloning!)

This has always been one of my favourites!

This is one hell of a shot. Absolutely stunning!!!!!. The lion fish has to be my favourite, they are so elegant yet dangerous. You have captured him beautifully.
Congrats on getting to the final - very worthy indeed.
POTY for me.

Wow!! I just came back from Sardinia, Italy and one thing I was considering was underwater photography. I picked up on the flight to Sardinia a magazine called 'Diver' in which there were really inspiring pictures. This one is absolutely STUNNING and beats everything I have seen so far. Pity it wasn't selected for the final entries of the WPOTY but it's a wonderful effort to have been so far already.

Well done for getting so far, and particularly from a compact. It is a lovely head on shot and I know how quickly they move away from the camera.
I also enjoyed the shot with your Mum in the frame, back scatter and all.
