........do birds, so any words of wisdom, would be greatly appreciated.

wow !.. great bird capture here, David.. stunning detail and expo .. like much this one
birds works exactly same way as any other portrait - composition, backgrounds, exposure, and of course focus
only a real pedant would suggest anything wrong here... composition a little to the right for my personal liking
Cracking shot he will be feeding young somewhere
great shot. christine
This really is an excellent image David !! I am impressed !
It's good to venture out of your comfort zone at times, David, and to do things you "don't do", but no-one would know, this is an extremely competent bird picture, sharp eye, good plumage detail, interesting perch and nice clean background. What more could we ask?
I don't do wee bird's either so cannot offer any words of wisdom, David: but I'd you have the ability to capture a small bird shot as well as this, I doubt of you really need of such.
Very well done.
mmmmm.... that would be like Ansel Adams saying he doesn't do landscapes then Dave. A really great shot!
I really love this image, David!
Looks good, David, as said above, the principles remain the same.
Great image, David. Perhaps you should do birds more often.
Hmmmm! maybe you should do birds!
Looks good to me
Think its a mr blackbird
.......well you do now and what a superb capture, love the expression. Well done.
Proving your versatility David, any bird tog would be very proud of this one mate. - gary
Excellent image David
Stunning capture,I'd say he has young some where, well done!!!
What amazing detail on the plumage David - for a non bird man you've done exceptionally well.
A very good bird capture. I think you will be doing more......Sandy
I have many birds that come within several feet of me every day whenever I top up the feeders, but if I go out with the camera they retreat to the far distant trees - a very good image and one I would love to have taken!
You should do more David - this is full of excellent detail.
well there was a time when I didn't do birds.. they always seemed to be out of reach or be of the no-see-ums species.
then I decided to have a go and wait and try and try again.. I think my first one was a blackbird, too.
and as they are very tricky with their dark plumage, methinks you have done really well.
Please do more
A lovely capture David, great work.
