Still in Endcliffe Park, there are quite a few of these hidden waterfalls............ They are the River Porter that runs through the park. The Porter is one of the fiver rivers on which Sheffield is founded. These fast flowing rivers were essential to power the water wheels used to fashion metal implements initially made from iron and then eventually Steel and Crucible Steel, the technique for which was developed in Sheffield.
Sadly, a lot of the original weirs have been built over in the name of development, but apparently still in tact.
We don't have any spectacular waterfalls in Sheffield but we do have lots of these mini waterfalls.
