Ted, don't wish to be a complete a***hole but ignore the 'gut reaction' comments above
this is a good effort but NOT a good image
on a technical level, you have the beginnings of a good image, but desperately need to sort out the viewpoint, composition and exposure problems (all of which you will easily do if you wish)
drop me an email to phil@sublime-images.co.uk and i will happily assist to that the next one is a stonker.
A great effort, sometime these most beautiful of our Native Birds Of Prey will provide you with the classic Owl pose, however this chap simply does not want to play. I usually like to see a crisp clear full engaged facial shot, or a perfectly square profile. Furthermore the location of the fallen Elm to the left of the image, has caused a quite uncanny shadow across this otherwise stunning and so very symmetrical face. Sorry to be such a gripe, however I have on many occasions in the past, especially whilst exhibiting images, been slated for what might seem very picky points, however upon reflection they really do matter,
Regards Nathan
Most of the time you don,t have chose to how you capture a shot , move and it,s gone.
SO not knowing the timing or reasoning it works un till a better time comes a long.
the exposer is off a bit but good effort. would i have taken it absolutely being i don,t have a photo of this owl .
Frank.
