Detail from Oslo Uni's new Informatics building. Apparantly Informatics means Informations Science.
Anyway, this is an uncovered fire escape within the structure of the building. Fatal in winter when it is minus 10c and ice covered.....but design is the most important, n'est pas?
Two variations and V3 shows more of the facade.
V4 shows the area round the building....not a bad place to have to study...

Thanks as always for your comments, and most importantly, thanks for bothering.

Malc

What an amazing building - v1 or v2 - not sure which; maybe a slight preference for the steely blue.

After much flicking between V1 and V2........V1 for me - the tones in the metal are superb, and the mono highlights the slightly abstract nature of the image

V1 for me, Malc - it is the most "pure"! This goes well with Daniel's elevator photos too. This is quite striking but I was alarmed by what you said about it being so dangerous in winter.

It's curious how the balance shifts between V1 & V2. In theory I want b&w here, but in V2 the areas of mesh become much more striking, and I rather like them. V2 by a whisker.

V1 is the purest but the touch of blue 'humanises' the structure; whether that is necessarily a good thing, however .........
V4 - walking on water recommended Smile
Many happy returns, Malc; don't wear the pressies out before tomorrow!

Bill

Very interesting architecture, Malc - the mono conversion works good in V1 - I like the texture from the side of the building and the staircase design - a very fine capture , Malc
