Not a lie.
This Lindhof glass-plate camera is the very one which photographed Pope John Paul II at 18 years old (Karol Josef Wojtyła as he was at the time).
It lives in the Foto Bielec studio, a magical place in the west end of Krakow, and still enjoys regular use.
McGoo was kind enough to introduce us to the lady who runs the studio, Basia, who delighted in showing us the equipment and told us all about it, and how it works. Unfortunately, I don't speak Polish and didn't understand a word of it, but she did make us feel very welcomed, even calling us back into the studio to show us some lovely photos of Mrs. McGoo. And her son did help by translating during a quiet moment.
Taken with what little light was available at the time.
