Taken by the side of Clunie Loch, Perthshire, Scotland. Two exposures - one for the sky and one for the foreground - i didn't HDR them just layered in PSElements 6 and scrubbed through the sky to reveal the other darker exposure.

Quality of image? Composition? Is that huge white patch a distraction?

I like it very much - I think the composition is good and I love the contrast on the Loch (although I would have taken out the branch in the top left corner)
The white patch has beautiful sinuous lines and the picture would be much less without it.
Beautiful.

I agree with Dawnstorr see uploaded Mod, maybe play around and see if there is a photo just in the Ice Shapes of the Loch.

Not normally my type of thing, but this one has something. So simple. I wonder if the sky is a little brighter than necessary and if a slightly lower over all light level might be even better. Very original though and thank heaven you resisted HDR!

Although it is virtually a monochromatic image (and a very good one to boot) my belief is it would be further enhanced by making it a genuine black and white photograph. But that's the only critique I can offer on this one.
