Continuing the "black and white birds of Iceland" theme of my two previous uploads. This is an oystercatcher who was courting in the river that flows from the foot of the Skogafoss waterfall. This was one shot when it actually shut up! It was making a hell of a racket possibly trying to impress a female (?) who was also present but appeared to be immune to the incessant chatter!

It was so preoccupied that I could get very close to it without it being alarmed. I know its a common enough sight in the UK as well but I didn't realise they had red eyes until I took this shot!

Good to get so close.....They have them running around on the beach lawns at Weston Super Mare these days scabbing after everyones chips, strange how some wildlife can adapt and others can't....
