Wow, Dave, coming from you, thats trully special! You have an extraordinary PF and if you don't mind me saying....my images don't even come CLOSE to what you can achieve....this is really a very simple set up...a sunny, late afternoon, one window and the light does the rest.....I have no PS skills at all to speak of, other than the standard curves, levels etc....and wish I could get more out of my images, but I feel I am limited by both my skill and my imagination sometimes.....I like what I do, but I have some way to go yet....
So for this to come from you....thats very, very kind and seriously appreciated!
Thank you ![]()
Yep, agreed. I use it to touch up and convert mainly, but thats it. I would love to get a bit more "punch" and life out of my shots sometimes, but from no on I am going to push my subjects and I am going to push myself. I just need to get this damn house move out of the way first....lol!
Thanks for the support Keith. Appreciated...
Thanks Richard...food for thought too....didn't think to crop as thought the curtain gave space and placement, but now you have said it....you may have a point...
Cheers! Will give it a go
Cheers Diana....appreciated. Rich had a point, I tried it and didnt like it personally. I guess each to their own and what makes what we do such fun...we all see something different..... ![]()
all I meant was it would give you a different image not better or worse just different
as in this crop
same image but totally different mood and feel just with a crop
but wtf do I know hey?
obviously not a lot !
Yeah, agreed Diana...it does give it a totally different mood. With the curtain in, I felt it gave it an airy, spacious feel, soft and relaxed....with the crop it felt hemmed in, tight, squeezed and tense.....both had their merits, but I was going for the former in the image. And you know a hell of a lot!!!
lol! Proved it on the mods you did!
I have a way to get to your level yet..... ![]()
Thanks mate....just goes to show what you can find if you go back through you archives...lol! ![]()
I like so much the clarity of her eyes... Her expression and pose.
Great use of light and fantastic mono conversion.
Thank you so much for your comments in my photos, your support and words... I aprecciated it so much.
Kisses
Thank you Noe.....appreciated. I am still working and aspiring to images like yourself. I would not want to copy, thats not what I do, but I would love to re-create your quality......one day I will get there.
Thank you again. Coming from you, this means a lot....cheers!
John
I like this one very much, as said by many the light is great coming from the side window with the curtain.
i read that you feel limited by your ps skils and your imagination, i think it is not true, you have quite a bit of imagination, you don't stik to the "rules" of photography and i think that makes your pictures special, not like all the rest,so you do have imagination, as for ps skils, welocome to the club!! hahaha..... but who cares, before the digital era, there was no ps but i find that some of the most beautiful photos ever taken were the film ones.
sorry for the long boring comment ![]()
Paola
Thank you Paola, thats really very kind......
She is a good friend of mine and yes, a very pretty lady. She was interested in modelling for me as she is also a photographer. These images were almost an "accident" as they were just "snaps" in a way, but I like the effect they have....
As with the "rules" you speak of...I like to try things differently, yet I also don't know which direction my photography is going in yet. I like things to look natural, but well taken. My PS techniques would be used only to enhance what I have already done, not to alter anything that is there in any way....almost like using old film and darkroom ideas and techniques, like you said. So, will have to keep practicing and see what comes out.....
But thank you Paola for your critique.....its very nice to hear good words come from someone like yourself
And it wasn't a boring compliment, it was good to read and know!

I love this image, the natural daylight, the soft curtain, the pose of the lady, all comes to this impressive pic. Well done!
