The weather damaged flower of Helleborus niger or Christmas Rose as it is commonly referred to. Its flowers should of course be pure white but I rather liked the purple splashes on this one. When I used to do watercolour painting it was always the slight imperfections in flowers which attracted my eye and I guess that hasn't changed now it's a camera in my hands.

Your own remarks I agree with so much and here the discolourations do add extra interest: fine macro work, Ann.
I guess they will get further weather damaged today.......blowing a gale here with heavy rain.

The dark purple splashes are rather attractive, I like hellebores, such a pretty flower form. Very well captured Ann.

Well it takes you some time to put some thing on but when you do boy is it a good shot the detail in this is outstanding and you are right about the splash of colour it makes the rest stand out more a top shot .
