Fire buckets at the parcels office of Rowley Station, now part of Beamish Museum.
So how did the New Year creep in for you, then? I'm afraid I fell asleep over my book not long after 11 p.m.: can't take the excitement any longer

A fine way to see the New Year 'IN', Bill. Managed a 20hr stint to see midnight and watch the fireworks on TV. I keep promising myself to get down to the Thames on New Year's Eve but the crowds just put me off.

That red just pops Bill!
I have some colour lensbaby images coming up in the near future. A day in the park downtown in glorious winter sun rendered some amazing colour - I think the LB slightly exaggerates colour.
How did we ring in the New Year? With some good Riesling (champagne just gives us a headache!) and watching a Christmas special of Call the Midwife that I had taped earlier. So, we made it past midnight

Well, after eating and drinking my home-made wine with the family and a friend, I was called by my friends sharing the same block and I went upstairs for another course which lasted until four in the morning. I drank raki this time with specially made hot balls made with bulgur, raw meat and lots of red chilly pepper. However, I was up at 8.30 with no headache. I was lucky, wasn't I? Otherwise, I'd have to pour buckets of water in to appease the bad effect of hot pepper and booze. So, your inquiry and the photograph made me think of all that, Bill.
That shade of Red really brings this image to life Bill, smashing!

I managed to stay awake until I left our local club about 1:00 a.m. yesterday morning! A good night was had by all, with some good entertainment
