Not a word of a lie. This is the Peace Garden at Minsteracres Retreat Centre in Northumberland, which was previously a Monastery. It has the most eerily beautiful scarecrows I have ever seen.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Didn't see any shaven heads or yellow dresses. The Retreat Centre is Christian (without pushing denomination, though we once gave a stranded Catholic monk a lift there). and the Estate includes the only RC church for miles around, so it serves local villages.
I was there on an evening walk round the grounds with the local Woodland group. The place has the most amazing collection of trees including two avenues of Giant Redwoods.
Cheers,
Moira

Are you sure this isn't a duel, Moira? The closer figure appears to have its right arm poised above an unseen holster. The farther figure refusing to acknowledge the event, hands clasped in front.

Minsteracres (map location given) is a beautiful estate to wander. There is car parking space, and maps of the estate are available. It's open to the public but I think they like it if visitors contact them in advance.

I can just picture these medieval monks letting their hair down on a Saturday night in the pubs in the ''Toon'' Moira.
My suspicions will be confirmed if you can tell me they had a convent there for the nuns too !!
I like your scarecrow.
I was in a pub in Sunderland once,
and I do recall that was full of scarecrows too !!

Very strange alien looking scarecrows. Being b&w, I can't tell if they are those shiny balls that attract bees and butterflies. Then they would make double sense. I like how you have composed this Moira. Interesting and a little eerie........Sandy

Personally, I find these creatures totally amazing. Maybe the background could have been a bit more OOF, more spiritual if you see what I mean .

It's a garden dedicated to tranquility, at a Retreat Centre. Regarding the background, my standard lens was at maximum aperture for the focal length, it was quite a long walk so I just took the standard. In dodgy light (thiswas evening, under trees), I stick to shutter priority to avoid risks, but push it up to control aperture.
The colour original may get uploaded some time, it's growing on me.
