.....a full frame (uncropped) capture of a wild male (Western) Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), taken near Aviemore in the Cairngorms, Scotland, last week. I felt so privileged to see this magnificent bird in the wild, sadly nearing extinction and on the RSPB Endangered Species Red List.

Gorgeous profile shot and the diffuse lighting lets the feather colours show up beautifully. I sometimes see them running or cycling through the woods (especially at Abernethy reserve) when getting into position for a sunrise landscape; I don't have the time to stalk the birds! GrinGrin

Truely great image Sylvia - Great pose with ruffled plumage, and because he's positioned on a ridge, then sharp foreground and nicely blurred background - WONDERFUL ! Smile
