"If I had a flower for every time I thought of you... I could walk through my garden forever." (Alfred Lord Tennyson)
These roses were left on the ice on the Lea Navigation (canal) in North London. Maybe left in memory of a tragic incident or just thrown from a nearby houseboat, I was unable to ascertain.
v2 uploaded just to show the wider picture.
Iso200, f11, 1/160sec..... HAND HELD!!!
A very big thank-you to all who voted/commented on more London, and for the UAs (personally thanked).
Dave

v2 for me also Dave - for once I also like to see the flowers in context ![]()

Whatever the back story it is an evocative image, well composed and compared to v2 a really touching shot. ...Peter
Just beautiful, whatever the story. And we can all write our own.
Moira
Discarded flowers keeping their secrets.
A tantalising image in beautiful light. Sic transit gloria . . .
Regards
Bill
Love both Dave, you could ponder so many things about this image, tragic or love!
Regards
Trev.

Whoop Whooop ..
I get to take this rather sad image to RC

Hugh
Have to agree and this a great shot
Love the touching, evocative nature of V1 and the ironic humour in V2 (the name of the barge in the background).
V1 for me Dave, it a story you can make fit anything you what it to. well captured and spotted.
John
Well found. V2 certainly tells a story, whichever interpretation one puts on it. I prefer V1, a most pleasing image.
Lavina
This very much a make a story from what you see.
For some reason I always associate flowers on water as a sadder moment in sombody's life. I do have to say that if V2 had had the upper parts of the boats cropped just leaving the bows in the image. I feel it would of had a greater emotional power to it.
For me V1 seems to be more of a thrown bunch of flowers following an argument.
That said nice spot and two great compositions well captured Dave.
Regards.
Gavin
An image open to all sorts of interpretation, Dave, although the roses lying in front of Rosie Lea did make me smile a little.
Marv Johnson, "I'll Pick a Rose For My Rose" perhaps?
Malc
Two fine captures, Dave, but have to go for V2 which gives us a more complete story ![]()

Love the colours and the reflections. Am pondering WHY these beautiful flowers should be just left - I imagine there could be a fascinating story to be told...!
I think I can put an end to your pondering here Dave
................... Well , what happened is, You see that yellow cable on the reel on the wall? Some innocent soul was walking along with a bunch of roses for the missus (bit early for Valentines, but they are cheaper in Jan) and he tripped over the cable, straight onto the ice
.......... Skidded on his belly, right to the point where the roses lie. At this point he let go of the posy and slipped backwards.....................and bumped into Rosie Lea........... unfortunatly for the cheapskate (no punn intended
) there was a hole in the ice just there.................. Bad times, glug glug......
And all you can do is take photos without your tripod![]()

V2 for me, great image!
Diane
Poignant & something a little different from yourself Dave!!
V1 Is my preference as it strikes more strongly in its solitude!!

Two great captures. I like V1 it tells the relevant story and originality.
Well done. WesternRed.
Dave, Well seen and captured ... infused the feeling in the flowers. Love it.

Unusual objects in unusual places. When you find them you always wish you had a camera. And you did. Flowers!!! I will have to watch you. Nicely composed, sharp and bright colours. Technically v1 maybe better but I prefer v2 as it adds some context. Regards Russell
