Hi Billy,
I'm not sure what you've done in your processing but there is some blue from the rear of the canoe in the sea, It doesn't appear to be to right sort of day for strong reflactions
.
I don't know if you've cropped this image or not but I think the canoe would be better placed slighlty lower and more to the right. There is nothing else other than sea in the image so by placing them in that position they would have the rest of the image to move into. It may also help with the sense of scale, ie a small conoe in a very large ocean.
Take care
Martin

I think it falls between two stools...if the canoe is the object, maybe it should be larger in the frame as that is where the action is, or as Martin says, make the canoe a splash (!) of colour in a larger sea. That would work if the sea was flat and boring, but the waves add a different feel, and maybe getting closer to the action would involve you more.
It looks sharp enough, but as above, I think a more off-centre composition would help balance.
Nick
Good work Billy. I think in V1 you have produced a good shot, good decision to remove the piece of sky, the contrast and colour look very good.
The area for improvement is composition, and that comes right down to how you crop the shot.
We are talking about the rule of thirds, and I have uploaded some mods that show the original, and my mod with the rule of third grid overlaid on top of the shot for you to see.
What you need to help you, rather than guesswork, is to be able to place a third grid on your shot as a guide to composition and cropping.
Heres how to do that:
Edit>Preferences>Guides, Grids and Slices; in the GRID Panel, set the following: Change the default PIXELS drop down box, to Percent; enter 33.333 in the Grid line Every box; enter 1 in the subdivisions box. Leave everything else at default.
Exit preferences.
With an image open, go to View>Grid and you will have the rule of third grid on your image. You can crop until you have positioned the element you want onto a third line, or ideally, as in this shot, on an intersection of thirds.
Hope this adds to you increasing knowledge,
Regards
Willie
