I captured this beauty in breeding plumage on a fish farm near Kochi. They're pretty ordinary looking out of the breeding season, and of course when they take off their wings are white.
Rather prosaically it is standing on a rice sack full of concrete. The waters were teeming with small fish and all the water birds were having a field day.
