This guy is making popcorn in a kettle (hence the name Kettle Corn) in a small hut in Bryant Park in New York City.
I shot this just after Christmas of 2012.
His gloves, jacket and protective mask made him look like he was working in some sort of foundry. I thought I'd really push for that effect and gave the image this harsh, grungy B&W treatment.

This works so well,
innovative and suggestive of the danger as he cooks
BUT

Not what I think of when I think of Kettle Corn from the street vendor-- missing the red and white cups and the bright yellow kettle cover!

Very hungry for pop corn just now

WinkWinkWinkWinkWink excellent treatment. Thought he worked with a grinder with that face protection.
I have learned something new. We used to cook legs of lamb and once a goose in the hardening oven, the Greeks did their moussaka. Wasn't approved, though.

I took some kettle-korners Wink at one of our local does here in Georgetown - ours were not dressed as welders, but I can certainly understand why this guy has face protection - the heat is intense and the smoke is quite strong and acrid - but the smell from a distance off is wonderful. I do not miss those yellow containers and love this in mono.

I'm with Moira - I thought he was a welder. Your treatment has worked very well to lead us astray!! Smile
