I find these Phlox blooms a difficult subject and I am not 100% happy with these but I thought I'd share them with you......their the best of many attempts.

V 1: Inside........a single stem captured in the usual way at the KS studio.
V 2: Out............a clump of the Phlox caught in the last sun of the day and deliberately underexposed.

Many thanks for all the kind comments on From The Burrell and with extra special thanks to Kate {Irishkate} for her User Award.

Ronnie.

Whilst I understand your difficulty with the outside shot- the inside one is perfect for me.. The light and tones could not be better, sharpness is everywhere. The only trifling point might be the contrast between the green and the black but the I wouldn't know how to mprove this.
As to v2 it is the multitude which puzzles most of us. Where do you crop, how close do you get.
I think your solution to let the surrounding greens disappear is successful , but it must have been difficult to find the right frame.

As a mass of flowers they do look difficult to capture
in a pleasing composition.
Singled out your image is perfect Ronnie.
Good on the diagonal against the black.
Green border suits beautifully.

The problem with Phlox is the lack of contrast in the individual flowers, but you have done extremely well with these images Ronnie. Your usual high standard Smile

As Barry points out the flower is rather amorphous, although well captured with the darker exposure in v2. v1 was definitely the way to go. Colour, aspect, and presentation very good, Ronnie.
