We had them at Elvington Saturday afternoon, weather at minimum height for these guys, started to rain as they departed. Typical.

Had I looked through this mornings recent uploads before I loaded my picture up for the day I would certainly not have uploaded a stock red arrows shot as it pales significantly against this one.

The way the light is hitting the smoke in this is stunning. A great shot.

Having also attended the display on Friday, out of interest I trawled through numerous excellent Red Arrows images that have been posted on Ephotozine over the years but didn't IMHO see anything quite as good and atmospheric as this.
Excellent shot.

Instead of getting sore elbows you should have hopped over the fence on the cliff top, you get all the room in the world then. Smile

Have you sold it to them? Almost makes you want to go and see one of their displays.

Wow and Wow !! Impressive Mr H.

The Red Arrows seem to be doing alot of displays this year. However I have never seen them photographed like this before.

I don't know weather you were directed to the optimum spot by someone in the know, or if it was just karma (or maybe the Red Arrows picked the tallest person in crowd as a point of reference) - but this is stunning stuff all the same.

Perhaps just a crop from the right to center the planes?

Timing is exceptional. Can't make my mind up whether I would prefer the right slightly chopped off to match the gap on the left.

Doesn't detract from an amazing image, that appears to have inspired others here! LOL

Just picking my jaw up off my keyboard. Have to say there's a lot of tired old stuff being regurgitated on ePz these days but this is a different class. As above one of the best images I have had the pleasure of viewing in a long long time, absolutely outstanding, your a talented fella.

OMG ive only just spotted this, what an amazing capture beats all the normal straight lines or heart shaped smoke.
This really conveys movement and the colourful smoke itself actually creates a frame for the airplanes.
Well done
