This wonderful horse belongs to a friend, while doing portrait shots for her she decided to take off, showing her off to the best advantage.

The white against the black works really well, nicely caught action. Unless was full frame might benefit from a little more space in front to run into / off centre it

Nice lighting on this one Penny. The white horse against the dark BG and actual point of the stride is very good.

lovely composition and light
I think the horse would have looked better caught on extension stride - more balanced
nevertheless a great capture

Excelent shot Penny, love the white on black, and well done on capturing the horse mid stride with all four legs visible. (sometimes one leg gets lost behind the other)

Great action shot and a lovely horse. Bit bleached out, but not easy. Best to bracket shots like this.

Thanks for comments and suggestions. This was a great opportunity to photograph a truly beautiful animal. I'm hoping to have another go later in the year when she's in show condition. .
Nothernlight; I do have other stride patterns and might try them out on here but not all were against the dark bg.
Col, there is more detail in the original but it has lost it a bit here.
I'm not sure that bracketting would help with such a fast moving subject.(In reality I was just about to leave when she decided to show off.)

Thanks Penny for the very kind comment. Hope you do not mind me taking a screen grab of this photo. Been looking for some horse ref for a while (something I'm working on) and this is just perfect, would go as far as to say the best equine shot I have seen on this site.

Cheers victor

Thank you starrchild, Hannah and Justin,
I was very lucky that she took off as she did and galloped across a dark background. I just accentuated it a bit to lose an annoying fence line.
The attraction was a stallion in a nearby field.
