I walked with Rachel to meet her boyfriend at the top of the lane. The view over to Dartmoor was a beautiful pink colour when we first saw it - though the sun soon came up and the pink disappeared!

This view is across the valley to a wood, then across Devon to Dartmoor.

The first version was taken using the infinity (mountain) setting, but I was curious about the SCN setting, so that is version 2 (using the snow setting). I think I prefer version 1 - I'd love to hear your preferences! Smile

Hand held I'm afraid, it was bad enough walking up our lane, without carrying a tripod! Smile

V.2 for me, Karen, but I love them both, beautiful compositions, a fine view. Whereabouts do you live? Carol

I have a problem with selecting 1 or 2. I like the colour of the trees in V2 but prefer the effect on the mountains in V1 so, while I like to be decisive I find that difficult here but will plumb reluctantly for V1. It's a great landscape and, for me, it's all about that gate to which my eye is drawn.

As you can see I've made a 'Mod', using the trees from version 2 and the hills from version 1. I'm really not very good at Photoshop, but I feel quite chuffed with the results and I think I agree with Neil (aka 'wideangler')! Smile

Rather like them both Karen, as they really are completly different with the colours doing them justice in each, but the shot is one to be very envious of! what a view...splendid shot

I find V2's pink tone too warm, so am going for V1 as my preference, with a much colder feel to it.

That's what I thought Pam, I find it strange that the 'Snowscene' option should produce this - as I've said the pink sunrise had totally disappeared by the time I took the image! Smile

Super shots Karen, lovely Dartmoor snowscape. Exmoor is very similar right now here.
I find v.1 best of two excellent shots. For me it's a wee bit more natural-looking. Beautiful view!

A beautiful scene. I can't make a decision about which version is my favourite. They are both lovely, but I hope you don't mind me saying, there is someone's arm in the left of frame, in both versions, that you haven't noticed. If you cropped in a little on the left, you could have gotten rid of this, or cloned it out, but well done anyway. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Valerie

Well spotted Valerie! I took this shot from our lane, which has trees both left and right - so in fact this is the end of a branch with leaves! Smile I should of cropped a little more off the left! Smile
