Closing the book...
I took on board the comments on last Thursday's upload, here's a cropped version without the peripheral figures.
Local historian Jim Standish, signing copies of his book about the nearby village of Mickley, watched by his grandson.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Excellent again, Moira. Love the boy's interest and their mutual sentiment over the subject which is quite readable from the photograph.

Thanks early birds. I resisted the crop for a while but I do like the result.
The original frame was composed carefully to include a lot more of the books on the table. The Local History Society had asked me to take the pictures for publicity purposes, so the actual books were rather important! But this focuses better on the human story.
We spent yesterday morning digging the road clear and might as well not have bothered, we're snowed in again. I think it's going to be a long week.

Tighter and for me a greater sense of togetherness. "Two people generations apart being brought together, how often do we see such events in our everyday lives?"

This version tells, I feel, a different story to the first. That was an overview of the situation around his person, his being there, whereas this is on a far more personal level. This is a private moment, the previous a public one.
