Many thanks for the comments and constructive critique on the whitethroat - I have been investigating the comments of sharpness and conclude that either the camera or lenses are out of focus since a review of the raw files show fringing type effect - so off for repair (ouch - an expensive but necessary solution)
This one has been sharpened extensively in PS and I hope this is a little better until I get my gear back.

Looks good, great capture Ray. Haven't seen a jay for a long while.

OUCH on the lens hopefully not the camera, this Jay is superb tho
Excellent capture Ray. I cant see much wrong with the sharpness on this and even though you say you have sharpened it ' extensively ' I cant see really obtrusive noise. What makes you think you need to suspect camera/lens focus?? Many factors may be influencing your results. It would be well worth checking those out first. Repairs can be incredibly expensive
Good luck
Ron
Superb capture of the very shy Jay Ray. I'm only learning myself but i have noticed that different lights have quite a big effect on your images especially in detail on the subject and can give me trouble when sharpening anything it might even be the range your shooting at, i moan about my Canon 400 sometimes when the capture looks poor in detail then a another shot in different light and i've got wonderful sharp detail.
Hope this helps Gary

superb capture, excellent details and very well spotted, well done!

A fine shot of this handsome and often elusive bird
Very good capture Ray. Really good. Glad too make this 90!
Pleased to be 100th to enjoy viewing this shot Ray. Lovely sharp image here and sad to read about the camera troubles. My camera is at your disposal if you want to call by and collect it over the weekend for a couple of weeks. I’ll use Jen’s camera if I get the need with her working at the weekends at the moment.
Dave.
