I took a drive along the Loop Road in Big Cypress Swamp yesterday, with my pal Bruce and a couple of cameras. The road is only 25 miles, and paved for half of it, but it still took us from 10am to 4pm to run the loop. We got a bit more picky towards the end, and didn't stop for every gator or heron, but if we'd had more time.... It was cool by South Florida standards, so a lot of the gators were up on the road sunning themselves. I even rescued a yellow rat snake that seemed to think that the middle of the road was a suitable spot - I put him on a rock at the side. And it was perfectly still, so the reflections were pretty good.
