Managed to get to the Olympics over the weekend and watch the woman's trampolining event. This is our UK entrant Kat Driscoll seen here. She did very well but was beaten by just one tenth of a point and didn't make the final unfortunately.
The olympic experience was just fantastic and the whole event, transport and organization could not have been handled any better.

Phil, you could not have timed this any better for this shot.
She is in the only area that is dark and long enough to show off her outstretched body,
anywhere else and she'd be lost in the great mish mash of vibrant
colours around her.
You are quite far away, but great capture of the whole scene ~ a real contender!
What lens? Is it sharp enough for print or just P.D.I.
Handheld I pressume?
Excellent!
Hi all, thanks for the comments and votes on this one, really appreciate it. Yes the timing was good, there was in fact two trampolines that the contenders could use and they had the chose, the right hand one in this shot gave the best background at this height, in fact I took a hundred or so at least and wanted to get the body in a nice somersault with twist but they aren't that good to view and the body is lost even against this background, in fact on a few even I was convinced that I had missed the contestant only to find a perfectly horizontal body that was almost camouflaged in the sea of people. We were actually about 10 seats from the front and were probably some 50 feet away. The lens is a Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LI macro lens, not expensive, around £150.00 today, no IS on it either and yes hand held, I have never pushed this cameras ISO up this much to 1600 in the day time and was worried about too much noise but it has done me proud on this image.
many thanks again..Phil
