Music is a passion of mine. I have a very wide taste - I'd listen to almost anything - but I particularly enjoy Irish traditional music.

Last week I had the good fortune to hear Kevin Burke and Cal Scott playing at Dolan's Warehouse in Limerick and they kindly gave me permission to shoot a few photographs. I have been an admirer of Kevin Burke's fiddle playing for about 35 years. Kevin is one of the greatest exponents of the art and his music would lift anyone's spirit. If you'd like to know more about him he has a good website (www.kevinburke.com) and his music is also available on iTunes. In the meantime, if you'd like to hear a sample of their music click this.

All the photographs were taken without flash using an ISO setting of 3200 and the lens aperture had to be fully opened up to f/2.8 to give me a shutter speed of 1/100th sec. I wasn't really worried about getting noise as I was hoping the 'grainy' effect would work in the pictures. Hope you like them.

Lovely interactions with the two of them, and nice expressions. Difficult conditions which you have dealt with admirably. Nice work John.
