Thanks to all who commented and voted on my last upload "A Flower ?" as always greatly appreciated. Still no wiser (could be a chrysanthemum) to what it is but will endeavour to find out Smile

This one is a mono converted. Had to add a sky as the original sky was total blue (rarity at the moment). Had a go at mono again after some good advice and tips from Annette (annettep38) and Dave (WhiteRose1). Far from perfect and composition could be better. V2 is the original so its an after and before Smile Feedback very welcome Smile

Thanks for looking

John

Mono for me as well, John, makes it look more dramatic.

The mono conversion carries more impact, I feel, there being an apparent enhancement of the contrast, especially in the grassy areas, and given the subject matter, the B and W presentation works well.

This is great composition. I like the mono best
as it shows more texture. Well done. WesternRed.

We all prefer the B&W as it is darker and so suits the 'Boneyard' setting much better. The colour version could work way better if you cranked the 'high noon' away down to 'dusk' level.
There have been other church / graveyard scenes here but many did not work well as headstones were too far from the building. Your find here is excellent as monuments are near by. You can do so much more this way.
Would a sky crop to just above the lower cloud and a right crop to near the third big cross give you a bigger and better stone church? TG

A really fantastic image, sorry I can't say much more due to my constraints.

The mono is excellent, John, lovely tones and detail. The colour version is way too bright. I'm not sure what you don't like about the composition. It has a good balance to me, the ground slopes down from the right but is prevented from leaving the frame by the church. The vanishing point of the church lines meets the line of gravestones and track through them. The shape of the larger gravestones and the tree are very harmonious. I think you've got a really good image.

MONO all day long gives texture a chance by not fighting with colour

Thanks all for the encourging feedback/comments greatly appreciated. Feel I am making progress Smile

Dave re the composition, felt I had cut too much of the church at the rear. So I am relived that it looks ok Smile

Thanks everyone cant say enough how much appreciation I feel for the feedback.

Cheers

John

your idea to convert to Mono was on the money John v2 far too contrasty to my eye's the mono has much more impact and has good lich tones and shadow nice one

excellent conversion, very well done separating greys and dark and light greens.
Composition is fine. I'm not commenting on the colour version, it has all been said.

If there is anything to improve (optional of course) you could have made the blue sky darker... that can be done fiddling with the slider blue darkness slider in LR.

The mono for me John I'm a sucker for a good mono pic every time.
