In my ignorance, I used to call this "The Lady Who Lost Her Shoe", but have since discovered that the statue is a tribute to the Field Mojaqueras. When they came to Mojacar to do their chores, many women shared the uphill road and the custom was to stop next to a stone at this place and to change their shoes before entering into the city.
The lady wears a typical head-covering dress, carries a water container, and holds a typical Arab headscarf with her teeth. The statue by sculptor Roberto Manzano stands on the original site of the stone of Los Silos.
The old hillside town of Mojacar (pronounced Mohacker) in Spain remains loyal to its past, displaying medieval arab architecture. This elevated mountain village is distinguished by its whitewashed houses.

3 versions showing different aspects of the sculpture, and V4 is a closeup of the shoe on the ground. The light was difficult, but I did my best. I must have taken V3 on a different day, but thought it worth including.
There is now a V5, which is a re-edited V3, following comments made.

Pamela.

A beautiful bronze, one which has been clearly crafted my a fine hand. Wonderfully digitally captured for all to share.

V3 is the star for me. It captures the dynamic feel, the movement in her body and dress, and it has both face and hand. It's as though she is offering us the shoe.
V3 has a slightly pinkish cast though - different light, obviously, but I think I'd prefer it a bit cooler. Alternatively it has scope for b&w conversion...

These are excellent photos Pamela, and your background so informative which of course prevent us from calling it the Lady with the Shoe Smile Really great stuff this Smile

A lovely complimentary set, Pamela. v3 is the more dynamic but I do like your angle on v1, capturing the statue in its setting.

V3 looks the best take on the statue Pamela - it would benefit from a bit of colour correction though.Smile

Moira and Brian: Thankyou so much for your comments about V3, you are both so right, and you prompted me to go back to the original and do a re-work, which is now V5. I edited that one quite a while ago, it was taken at a different time. I should have studied it more before uploading it. Hope you approve of the new version.
Pamela.

V1. & V3. for me Pamela, But if I had to choose one it would be V3. if converted to b&W you would loose the green; which I feel could detract from the sculpture but! one would not know unless you tried it!, nice figure from my favourite place, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

I love your response to the finch.. I call a friend King George spaniel hoover, cause all she does is sit and scrounge in her restaurant.
the other two dogs are always on the move and actually doing something. She has also got two cats, one of them I call dyson cause she is just like the spaniel Smile
