So very sorry that I have been off the radar for two weeks or so. We were holidaying in the Italian Dolomites and the internet connection was ****. Will catch up over the next week.

The Lady's Slipper Orchid must be one of the most spectacular orchids in Northern Italy. The highlight of our trip was seeing a group of 24 blooms.

A beautiful floral image crammed with great colour and detail, my only observation is that there are only two orchids, the inclusion of another would have made for a more balanced composition.

I love the way that the second, blurred orchid in the background echoes the main subject. I know that conventional photo geek thinking is that things should be in odd numbers but to my mine this image gives more evidence, were any needed, of the appeal of twos.

It is a beauty, so sad we don't get this one here..
I love these little dots where the yellow bit meets the dark part.
Nathan, the third orchid is right over your shoulder behind you Smile

Beautiful floral imagery with great colour, great use of depth of field, and so very exposed.
