would love to see an original to compare it to as it looks completely wrong to me, but then again maybe it's my eyes ;-(

I have to say that having looked at your portfolio I have to agree with Mac, I think you are using the HDR software far too high a strength as can be seen by the halo's between the mountain and the sky.
The only thing I can say in most people do the same to start with ( including me) which is a shame as some of the scenery you have taken must be breathtaking.

You are probably correct, but this lake really is this colour and the HDR effect (one exposure 5 times in Camera Raw) has intensified the colours and I may reduce the vibrance. As for the sky, it was a white out and needed a lot of work to get some detail out of it. Sadly the time I visited was dark and overcast with a white sky and even with filters it was difficult to get balance.
