Lang Son is an interesting place to visit. The town and its ancient citadel have been the scene of many invasions and the French suffered 3 defeats there during colonial time.

In 1979 during the short Sino-Vietnamese War, Lang Son was once more the center of fighting and sustained extensive damage. Nevertheless there are quite a few vestiges and houses dating from the French Colonisation.

It is hard to believe that a place that looks/is so peaceful, has suffered so much hardship in the past

So sad that this beautiful place has known so much unrest and war. You have recorded the beauty so well Jean-Noel.
