Well spotted Eric, I didn't even know you could get that close to the greenhouses there.
I love the range of textures and colours.

Lovely rich colours. Great how you have found such beauty in a mundane object.

Thanks Brian, very flattering. It's a good camera, but the automatic settings can't be relied upon for creative images, especially in high contrast and low light situations. Happily, there's manual control. Wish it had a split ring option for manual focus and I wish there were some way of having dof markings on the lens barrel like the older slr zoom lenses. You have to make do with a dof button which closes the aperture, but I find this misleading as the darkened image often appears to indicate a good sharp image over a wide dof, when in fact either the background or foreground turn out to be softer than expected when you zoom in to examine the results. It's also chunky and damned heavy!
Still, when all said and done, when it all comes together, it works. It didn't take long to grow accustomed to its little eccentricities. I'm saving for another lens as soon as I've a working burn drive in my computer.
Thanks Steve and Danny, great to hear from both of you.
Greens are good for you Danny, didn't your mum tell you? ![]()
Great shot Eric. Congratulations on the EC, really pleased you've got another, very well done.

Hi Eric ...so many comments here I won't attempt to read them all and I'm sure I'm repeating what others have already said!! ...This is a great shot, there's so much interest with the different textures and subtle colours and the composition is spot on. That new camera's earning it's keep already!! ....well deserved EC ....congrats and click

Just come across this one Eric. I love it - superb detail and colours. So much going on in such a small area.
Adam.
Thank you Jo, no plans in that direction, although I'm open to offers! ![]()
Fantastic Eric. One of your best I think - the colours and texture all come together and make this a real treat for the eyes. Every element in this from the screws to the latch itself really delight the eye and you get a real sense of the craftsmanship in the making of it. Big click.
Its wonderful that something so simple could be made so interesting! The colours and the details are amazing
However did I miss this one?, sorry Eric, it's great, congratulations on the EC.
106 clicks eh?, I havent had that many for all my photos added together lol.
Well done.
Geoff.
Thanks for viewing Geoff. I didn't expect this to do so well myself. ![]()
Congratulations on recieving an editors choice award. I really do like this photo, and with the huge feedback already given by many many others, there's little that i can add that hasn't already been said. The colour saturation is unbelievably stunning. Thoroughly deserved EC. And thank you for your comment too. Much appreciated. But i have a hard task to match anything near this standard. Well done!!!!
Many thanks for viewing and commenting Craig, good to know you like it. ![]()

Hi Eric
Been looking through your portfolio and I think your images are fantastic, but this one stood out (not just to me it seems!). Love the colours and texture, you can almost reach out and touch it and know what sound it would make when opened. Congratulations.
Greetings from a fellow adult ed IT tutor!
I love extraordinary shots of the ordinary like this. Amazing colours.
Outside the square. Nice shot and who would think to stop and admire such a thing. Well done.

I was sure I had clicked on this but apparantly not. I know I did not have access to a computer at the time. Absolutely stunning composition and well deserved of the awards
Jenni
As you left me a really nice comment I thought I would look through your portfolio. Wow have I got a lot to learn ! Everything about this photo is perfect in my eyes. Such a simple subject that produced such a superb shot. Congrats on your awards, well deserved. Keep up the good work.
True, this is (among others of yours) a very, very good and poetic picture. And thanks for your kind, useful and well pointed comments.

Thanks Tony. Yes, it was the mix of colour that caught my eye on this one. The door was a very old one and had been re-painted a fair few times, I think. The steamy atmosphere of the greenhouse had also encouraged a lot of micro plant growth on the wood.
I re-visted recently, and the door has been replaced, although I was happy to see, they had kept the old latch and transferred it the new door. ![]()
Well spotted Eric, the colours and textures are out of this world. Pleased to make this worthy shot 200.
John

Brilliant Image...!
This is perhaps the best shot of this type I've seen... and being in a camera club for 20 years I've seen a few... lol.
Well spotted and very well executed.

Thanks Ron, Daisy, Marta, Dave and Keith, nice to hear from you all. ![]()
This is real beauty, creat colours textures and contrast.
I have only just discovered this wonderful image and this has happenned at a time when I was thinking that there aren't many (hardly any) abstracts or macros in any of the awards. I'm quite envious of this photo as it encompasses all those elements which for me make a great shot.....colour, texture, everyday subject and a close-up view. I congratulate you and aspire to similar results.
