Morning all another one from my Tarantula collection this morning...This is a Nhandu Chromatus...common name Brazilian Red and White ......
This Tarantula is a friendly girl although very fast and skittish and doesnt like to sit still for any length of time..
Unlike Yesterday's upload of a Cobalt Blue which is an Old world species, the Nhandu Chromatus is a NEW world species, meaning rather than biting first, she will attempt to ward of predators or threats by rubbing her back legs against her abdomen and releasing razor sharp fine hairs in the direction of the threat...these hairs are irritants and can cause itching, swelling and irritation. However these are only last resorts as any 'flicking' or biting uses up a lot of energy and really, the spiders would rather just run away and be left alone ![]()
So great for caring for and looking at ..but no tarantula should be used as any form of entertainment as this is dangerous to both human and spider ![]()
But i love them!!
