Tony, you need to put your EXIF data on, so we know what you are shooting, as this may help us with your images.
I shot this image at 1/400th sec, f8, 100 ISO, with flash off camera, at 68mm focal length.
although i like tge curve of tghe back i wonder about cropping at the bottom of the rail. lesley
I did consider that Lesley, but I then lost (in my opinion) too much of the dress. The rail was there, so I dont mind leaving something real and solid and tangible in the shot. If it had been a crisp packet or something, yeah, gone in a second, but as its a solid thing thats really there, I decided to leave it. It also gives a little placement as to where the shot was taken. For example, it must be waterside, as there's a life ring bottom right, so she's clearly looking out across water.
I hope that makes sense, and I do value your input, so keep it coming.
How have you been anyway, getting out much with the camera?
Hi Tony, put your image in PS camera raw > Hue/saturation and turned it into B & W. Made adjustment with the adjustment brush on the sky, contrast, highlights, shadows and clarity. In PS, I copied the background layer > new layer > eye dropper tool on her skin and painted over her arm to try and reduce the mottle effect on her skin. I then painted her face > multiply > opacity 25%. I then removed the glare from her sun glasses. Hope you like the mod.
Hi Stephen, thanks for the modification.
Im still not convinced that black and white is the way to go with these images, although I do truly appreciate your efforts. I like the colour versions, if Im totally honest as good as they are, im not keen on the mono.
I like your sky, and the effort you went to definately shows, so many many thanks, but I still prefer mine. Hope you dont mind.
I'll take the technique advice on board and see if I can use any of that for the next upload, so my thanks for the info.
