Another taken at the War & Peace Show, I love the little details like this that the exhibitors put on show. I am not sure what the blue wallet is to the side, at first I thought it was for darts but now I'm not sure, it has been suggested that it's a kit used for threading the leather throught the eyelets/sewing?
As always I thank you for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome.
Regards - Sarah J x

An interesting set of artefacts, Sarah: not sure either about the blue wrap wallet......at first I thought it be an artist's wallet fro brushes or drawing materials, but that would not really fit with the other items.
Someone will be in the know however, I'm sure.
Ronnie.
good light and natural colour here in the leather nice work

Intriguing. I'm much more interested in the details from such events than the (very) civilians dressing up as soldiers. The blue velvet is embroidered - that's quite a feat for starters! I thought at first it was a sewing case, but obviously not. Then I thought pencils, but there are no sharpened ends. To be honest they look like drum sticks but I'm assuming they are more likely to be a leather-work tool.
Re my upload - the light in the museum was fairly disastrous, as were the colours - I've desaturated my V1 by about 40%!

Super detail and colours in this shot, the blue wallet looks like chopsticks to me, the 2 nearest with the gold wrapper unused ones. But don't see how that fits into the grouping.
Doh - just read Cliffs comment.
The Americans taught the Chinese to play ball and the Chinese in turn gave the Americans chopsticks.
I remember seeing it in a Marx Brother's movie.
Peking Duck Soup.

I am sure they are chop sticks, Sarah. I have seen them before bound round the thick end as these are.
A very interesting still-life - a change from fruit or dried garlic
The baseball glove does remind me of an open oyster with the ball as the pearl.

Baseball mitts and chopsticks definitely says Pacific theatre to me too Sarah.Love the textures and colours.

Excellent still life Sarah, with fine detail and lots of interest.
Thanks for letting me know about the Herstmonceaux Castle meet. Afraid I'm away that weekend but hope you all have a good time. It's right up your street so you should get some great images.
Hope to see you soon
