Great picture. A little more space between the top and side of the head is all that's needed here that I can see.

A superb portrait, especially in mono. So much detail in every aspect. I agree with Leighton about the space at the top of the head especially.

Good choice of subject, great black and white tones, good to see right into his eyes.

Hi Linda and welcome to EPZ.

This is a terrific shot, - full of character that any pro would be proud to have shot.

It can benefit by adding some space to the left for a more balanced appearance, but the basics are all excellent, - the pose, eyes contact and cigarette.

It works well in this toned monotone, - it accentuates the grittiness of the character.

I have loaded a couple of mods, - the last one has the space added for comparison, - easily done in Photoshop.

All I have done is added some more contrast using curves, and sharpened a little, The second and third mods have a different toning that you might like also.

Lovely work, - hope this critique is useful,

Regards

Willie

a stunning bit of portaiture, great pose, good eye contact and the mono conversion suits the subject. you obviously managed to get him to position, its a shame you didnt ask his name, it makes it so much more worthwhile and somehow tells more of a story.

Absolutely superb well composed capture. To give it that bit more impact and to emphasise the wrinkles in the face and hands I would have gone for a really high contrast image ~ see my mod.
