I was trying some "single strobe in brolly" lighting the other night, no model around so used myself instead.

This is "link lighting" if you read David Seizer's book on wedding photography.

I then decided to try Nik Colour Efx on my mug, using me filter of the moment, BLEACH BYPASS... hence the name of the shot.

the aim of the shot was not to look scary, not to look stupid (my usual 2 modes of operation) but to looks somewhere in between...

Ah well.. I'll revert back to scary again I think.

Last day in paid employment today!

cool, not sure of you look either scary or stoopid though. So perhaps your plan worked in a roundabout way, ha ha

Congratulations for making it all the way to the end of employment, my last day was quite scary, hope yours is fun.

Nothing wrong with the image Ade but A better model would have been more appropriate.
Good strong Features and lit where it should be lit. Stick this up on the notice board today to give them a reminder of what they will be missing.
Good luck in your future ventures whatever they may be.

This is powerful stuff Ade, not stupid or scary. Just intense! lol! But really very nicely done. Good luck with whatever it is you are planning on doing after employment (I assume your income will be photography related? I never did find out what you were off to do...) and most importantly, have a good booze off! Wink

Its great to do a SP now and agian, it allows you to really focus on the finer points of shadows and lights etc.
No i don't enjoy the actual SP much myself but the attention to detail and post processing options are fun.
Not scary mate, a bit Will Ryker from star ship enterprise with a hangover maybe Wink Its good detail, i othen compare male head shots to the advertising for the TV series "House" where the main actor has intensly sharp stubble and well coloured eyes.

A good image well presented.
