I tried different frames and effects but it portrays what I wanted without. My intention was the get the centre of the flower close to a thirds intersection. Crop tightly to focus attention and in a limited area left give the impression the petals were like floating silk. OMG those who know me will know this is the talk of a sleep deprived man lol

For information.
Tri-pod mounted, narrow aperture of f/20 on a timer of 2 seconds to prevent any movement, although an electronic or cable operation control would do. Two constant light sources and a silver reflector from above to make use of any reflective light. White balance on camera set to flash (but you must concentrate on correct white balance} very slight adjustment to levels and colour curves in PS. Oh shot against blue background.

Honest feed back always appreciated as I am hitting a wall. Wish I had listened more in art class.

Honest critique... the yellow looks a little dull, and the centre is on a vertical third but is more central on the horizontal. On the plus side, floating silk is exactly what I thought of, the purple does seem to work extremely well against the blue, and I do like the close crop. Probably sacrilege, but I never worry about the WB. Shoot in Raw and adjust in PS to get the best/most pleasing effect (the less I have to worry about, the more important I might get right!!)

To think I used to just point and shoot!
Russell you are worrying way too much.
It is a lovely image with the feel of floating silk.
The turquoise blue is complimentary to the lilac.
Dave is right about the yellow though.
