First off, I loved the comments in the ‘Difficult Cat’ upload. And I’m glad you liked it, Cassiecat ![]()
[Ed, so weird about the postal scratchy cat!! Perhaps in a past life it was someone who had its mail delivered all late or damaged and stuff
]
Second, the furry yellow caterpillar is transforming. It’s now made a bright yellow double-walled home on the ceiling of the plastic container. I’ve taken pics as best I can through the plastic and with available light without bothering the fella too much. Will upload at some point. Today I noticed a couple of ants on and in the box. Got rid of ‘em and placed the box in an oval serving dish with a shallow moat around it to make sure nothing gets to my ‘baby’. I swear…short of changing its nappy, I’m paying way too much attention to this caterpillar
I’m just so looking forward to seeing what it turns into!
Ok ok…enough rambling. Here’s the 2nd entry to last month’s EPZ ‘Flower’ competition (‘160 minutes’ was the other one, as you know). I was happy with this at the time. But after uploading it I found myself going, “Why?”. I mean, I like the image but I don’t think it’s competition standard. But hey, we live and learn, eh? Hope you like these lilies. They smelt WONderful, by the way.

That's lovely, Andrew, and white on black works extremely well. Is that a little droplet on the leaf?
Looking forward to the yellow caterpillar's metamorphosis. You look after it!
A real class act Andrew, such wonderful lighting, clarity and presentation. I agree with Pamela regarding the black background, it works perfectly and shows these beautiful lillies at their best
Stunning capture.. Wonderful light and presentation.. Top class
I do like this a lot Andrew - the black background works perfectly, and it's a good rich, dense black. The white petals are quite a statement against it. But best of all, that little jewel of a water droplet on the leaf - perfect.
But I am now left with the mental image of changing a caterpillar's nappy, that will stay with me all day...
Moira
Thanks, all ![]()
Pamela, yup, that is a water droplet (I think!) on the leaf. So nice and round, isn't it?? I only noticed it when viewing the shot on the computer. Don't know where it came from considering there doesn't seem to be water anywhere else on the plant!
Moira, lol...sorry for the mental image
It's a tricky thing changing a furry caterpillar's nappy. You gotta wear gloves when you lift up their legs.
Mick, lemme tell you...technological advancements are really something...the kind of nappies they make nowadays...two legs, six legs, octo-wrap, millipede-madness...they have something for everyone!
Beautiful against the black - and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of the caterpillar
Helen
Elegant and beautiful against black.
And I'm working my way from back to front, so now know the caterpillar has metamorphosed - you should check in about 12 days for the emergence. Often the pupae turns an ugly black before this, and you think it's dead - well, it's not, it's just "ripe" ![]()

Two shining stars with all those fine shades of white you could ask for ticks allmthenrightmboxes
